Your Vet, In the App: How PokiPaw's Vet Integration Works

Every pet owner knows the ritual: the paper folder of vaccine booklets, the vet’s phone number on a sticky note, the prescription photographed in a hurry so it doesn’t get lost. Your pet’s health lives in two places — your home and your clinic — and the two rarely talk to each other.

PokiPaw’s vet integration closes that gap. Your veterinary clinic connects directly to your pet’s chart, and everything — records, prescriptions, appointments, messages — flows through one app, with you deciding exactly what is shared.

Two ways to bring your vet in

Not every clinic works the same way, so PokiPaw supports two levels of integration:

1. A full clinic connection. If your clinic uses the PokiPaw veterinary portal, you link your pet’s chart to the clinic once and collaborate continuously — shared records, chat, appointments, and prescriptions.
2. A secure vet report link. For a one-off visit, a second opinion, or a clinic that isn’t on PokiPaw yet, you can generate a private, PIN-protected report link that any veterinarian can open in a browser. No account needed on their side.

Both are built on the same principle: your pet’s data is yours, and your vet sees only what you choose to share.

Connecting your clinic

The connection starts with the clinic, not with the app scanning anything or guessing. Your clinic sends you a personal invite code — tied to your email address and with an expiry date, so codes can’t float around indefinitely.

Open My Vet in PokiPaw, enter the code, confirm, and you’re connected. From that moment the clinic sees your pet’s chart — or more precisely, the parts of it you’ve allowed. Disconnecting is one tap, and it cuts access immediately.

You decide what the clinic sees

Consent in PokiPaw isn’t a single all-or-nothing switch. Sharing is split into sections, each with its own toggle:

• Pet profile — species, breed, age, microchip
• Medical records — diagnoses, vet visits, lab results, allergies
• Vaccines — the full vaccination history and due dates
• Treatments & medications — active and past treatments with dose logs
• Journal & tracking — weight, activity, food, water, symptoms
• Care routines — grooming, deworming, recurring care
• Expenses — if you want your clinic to see cost history
• Photos and documents — gallery and stored files
• Owner contact — your contact details

Share everything, or only vaccines and medical records — it’s your call, and you can change it or revoke it at any moment. A section you close simply disappears from the clinic’s view; nothing else collapses with it.

What your vet can do

With a connection in place, your clinic can:

• See the chart — the sections you’ve shared, organized the way a clinician needs them: overview, medical history, vaccines, treatments, vitals.
• Add records and issue prescriptions — a new diagnosis or prescription lands directly in the app. Records a vet proposes for your pet’s file go through an accept or reject step, so nothing enters your pet’s history without your approval.
• Adjust treatments — if a medication is stopped or changed at the clinic, your medication tracker reflects it, and you’re notified.

You’ll get a push notification when the clinic adds a document or stops a treatment — no more finding out weeks later.

Every action is on the record

Trust needs receipts. The access log in My Vet records every action the clinic takes: when the chart was opened, when a record was added, when a prescription was issued, when a treatment was updated or stopped. If you ever wonder “who looked at what, and when,” the answer is one tap away.

Chat and appointments, without phone tag

Questions between visits usually mean a phone call squeezed into clinic hours. With a connected clinic, PokiPaw gives you:

• Chat — message the clinic directly, attach photos from the gallery or camera, or send a document. If a connection is revoked, the conversation is clearly marked and closed.
• Appointments — request a slot from the clinic’s availability, add the reason for the visit, and track the status: requested, confirmed, completed, or cancelled. Your upcoming and past appointments live in one list.

Prescriptions in your pocket

Prescriptions issued by your clinic appear in My Vet with their attachments. Open them full-screen, zoom in on the dosage, and save a copy to your device for the pharmacy. Paired with a complete digital vaccination record, it means the paper folder finally gets to retire.

No connected clinic? Use a vet report link

Traveling, seeing a specialist, or at an emergency visit? Generate a vet report link from the app:

1. Pick the sections to include — the same granular list as above.
2. PokiPaw creates a private link and a 4-digit PIN.
3. Give both to the vet; they open the report in any browser — overview, medical history, vaccines, treatments, vitals, expenses — searchable and filterable by date.

Links are revocable, so access ends when you say it does.

Privacy by design

The whole integration was built consent-first: sharing is opt-in per section, every clinic action is logged, connections and links can be revoked instantly, and clinics see only a minimal slice of your profile — never your full account. Your pet’s history stays yours, wherever you take it.
